These are my favorite colonial era relics! 1700s shoe buckles came in all sizes and styles, but fancier was more fashionable so some of these are simply gorgeous. This one has a cast brass frame with extra detail cut into the metal by the craftsman so not the fanciest but definitely a decent set. The frames were often quite thin so it's uncommon to dig intact ones, but complete with the buckling mechanism is pretty rare. I typically only dig a couple like this a year!
