Every year since the 90s, wood storks have laid nests at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens. By 2003, we began partnering with additional organizations, including MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife, to band storks to help with identification, determine survival rates, and monitor habitat usage. This year we banded 30 chicks, bringing the total number of birds banded at the Zoo over the past 18 years to 413!
