Skeleton Frolic, released in 1937, is essentially a color remake of Disney’s 1929 Silly Symphony, The Skeleton Dance. The short was directed by Ub Iwerks, Walt’s first partner, who also animated most of The Skeleton Dance. After leaving Disney in 1930, Ub founded his own studio, where he created the character Flip the Frog. He returned to Disney in 1940, where he went on to pioneer new special effects techniques. In another Disney connection, the short’s producer was Charles Mintz, the husband o
