Maximize your paddling efficiency by avoiding shallow strokes and focusing more on executing deep paddle strokes. Shallow strokes are less effective and can hinder your speed while surfing. By utilizing deep paddle strokes you can generate greater propulsion, resulting in enhanced speed and improved efficiency during your surfing sessions. 🔥 Go to LINK IN BIO for a FREE personalized 2-4X wavecount training plan in under 30 seconds. #surf #surfing #surftraining #learntosurf

What do you all think? The biggest limiting constraint for most surfers is paddle power. Fix the constraint = unlock progression. Pull-ups: good for raw power but that’s not gone be the thing holding you back when you’re trying to make it out the back or stay in position in a heavy current. Elastic bands: not enough resistance at beginning, too much at the end, can’t train recovery stroke Swimming: can’t train the arch, not time efficient 🔥 Go to the LINK IN OUR BIO for a FREE personalized 2-4X

Are you wasting paddle energy? Our good friend and surf paddle technique expert Rob Case conducted a study comparing the efficiency and propulsion of a vertical hand and a cupped hand when paddling. In surfing, propulsion is achieved by applying force backward, as dictated by the third law of motion. Our hand, a key component of the paddling blade, plays a significant role in this process. Positioned strategically, the hand maximizes the blade's surface area, ensuring efficient and powerful padd

in surfing, paddle power is far from the most important thing. most people miss waves not because they “didn’t paddle hard enough,” but because they weren’t in the right place at the right time. timing and positioning are everything: where the peak is, where you’re lying on the board, and how early you start paddling — all of that matters more than just paddling harder. when you’re in the right spot near the peak, 1–2 confident strokes are enough and the wave will pick you up. if you’re too far

I want to shed light on a crucial aspect of effective paddling technique. When fully extending your reach while paddling, you might find that only your fingertips touch the water, limiting your leverage. Additionally, that overhead reach can potentially strain your shoulders and the glenohumeral joint. By shortening your reach, you can mitigate these concerns and optimize your paddling efficiency. A shorter reach allows for a stronger arm entry into the water, activating your lat and triceps mus

Here is why you are paddling “hard” but not as fast as other surfers in the line up. •The first thing you want to do is find the sweet spot on your surfboard. Your back should be arched, your head lifted, and your body centered. And that is every time you jump back on the board. •Let your nose float just 2 to 5 centimeters above the water. This position minimizes drag and helps you glide smoothly. •When paddling, make sure your hand enters the water with your fingertips first, followed by your w

Have you ever paid attention to how your hand enters the water during each paddle stroke? It might seem like a small detail, but it can actually make a big difference in your performance. So, the question is, do you enter the water with your thumb or your pinky first? It does matter! Entering the water with your pinky first has some neat benefits. It engages your lats (latissimus dorsi) and triceps more effectively, giving you that extra power to propel through the waves like a champ. On the oth
