The God War story arc pays homage to Jack Kirby's Fourth World. The characters Seed Nineteen are a pastiche of the Forever People. When Seed Nineteen crosses a street it is a reference to the front cover of The Beatles' album, Abbey Road.

The "Crossover" story arc began in medias res, with the four already a public team known as The Fantastic Four, each of them possessing codenames identical to their 616 counterparts. Their jumpsuits remain largely unchanged, save for the added '4' insignia.
