Dec 30, 2024 · Here is another "Little Joe" bi-directional 2-D-D-2 locomotive, MILW #E79. The loco was one of the locos built for the Stalin Russion railroad but resold when the US-Russian deal was axed. This particular loco was originally numbered SZD A1599.

On the Milwaukee they were known as "Little Joes," after Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, but the South Shore's three units, 801-803, were known simply as "the 800s." Of the 2-D+D-2 axle arrangement, they developed 75,700 pounds of tractive force.
