The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania’s mission is to preserve and interpret the Commonwealth’s rich railroad history to engage a broad and diverse audience and to educate the public about the role railroads played, past and present, in building our nation and shaping our daily lives.

At the dawn of the 20 th century, the Pennsylvania Railroad billed itself as the “Standard Railroad of the World,” emerging as a clear leader in American railroading. Most of the road’s freight trains were pulled by various “H” class locomotives.

The Museum is currently open: Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last entry at 3:30 p.m.) Sundays, 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last entry at 3:30 p.m.)

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania offers special events throughout the year, appealing to all interests and all ages. Museum members receive free admission to many events. Check the website, and social media, or join the email list to stay up-to-date on the latest happenings.
