New York Central 2933 is a 4-8-2 "Mohawk" (Mountain) type steam locomotive built in October 1929 by the American Locomotive Company for the New York Central Railroad. The wheel arrangement is known as the Mountain type on other railroads, but the New York Central dubbed them "Mohawks" after the Mohawk River , which the railroad followed.

The Full STory oF Mohawk 2933 RON GOLDFEDER O. n June 13, 1963, Alfred Perlman, president of the New York Central Railroad, presented class L-2d Mohawk 2933 and electric S-motor 113 to the Museum of Transportation in a ceremony at St. Louis Union Station. This event marked New York Central’s only donation of a modern steam locomotive.

May 2, 2017 · The restoration of the New York Central L-2d Mohawk 2933 took over 10 years. Wabash 573 is a 2-6-0 Mogul type freight locomotive built by the Rhode Island Locomotive Works in 1899. Number 573 weighs 215,825 lbs.
