Using "GP20" to id MILW units is something of a euphimism. While the MILW used the GP20 model plates, EMD style, they were actually GP9's rebuilt in the West Milwaukee Shops. Marty's use of GP20m is probably okay, but the reality is these were all ex-GP9's.

Jul 18, 2015 · GP20 #951 is from the 1970's era rebuilding and shows that Milwaukee Road's Milwaukee shops had improved upon the esthetics of the nose rebuilding. It was nearly the same as the SD7 and SD9, except for the retention of the EMD as built class lights.
