Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad is home to the World Famous 1935 Art Deco Streamliner. The Mark Twain Zephyr was one of nine stainless steel streamlined trains built by the Budd Company for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy in the 1930’s.

Mar 31, 2024 · 1908: The Chicago Record declares the Burlington Station to be “The handsomest railway station ever seen.” 1929-1930: The station is extensively remodeled to compete with the new Art Deco Union Station, which would open in 1931. 1954: The station is remodeled again to add a parking plaza.

Construction began on Union Station in May of 1929. It was designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood and Company in the art deco style of architecture. Mr. Underwood designed every detail of the building, including light fixtures, filing cabinets and doorplates.

Aug 15, 2020 · The railroad just got possession of the iconic train. It is one of nine stainless steel passenger trains built for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in the 1930s.

Jul 3, 2024 · Burlington Depot sits in the background to its south. Omaha’s Union Station was the first U. P. station in the Art Deco style.

Aug 24, 2024 · Much of its interior was of Art Deco design and the observation car was largely decorated by John Harberson of Philadelphia. Overall, the train was 197 feet long and could hold 72 passengers, 44 fewer than the Union Pacific's M-10000 .
