The locations on the standard British version of the board game Monopoly are set in London and were selected in 1935 by Victor Watson, managing director of John Waddington Limited.

The longest-produced and most commercially successful edition in the UK and Commonwealth Countries is the original London version published in 1935. This national edition is based on a standard board with street names from eight Austrian state capitals. Each capital gets one set of color properties.

Here we have an early U.K. edition of Monopoly, the property trading game, featuring London Street / Railway Station place names. Believed to be the first U.K. edition, this game was made in England by John Waddington Ltd. of Leeds. It is a pre-War example, dating back to 1936.
