The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (CMStP&P), better known as the Milwaukee Road (reporting mark MILW), was a Class I railroad that operated in the Midwest and Northwest of the United States from 1847 until 1986.

It could be argued that March 3, 1970 was the most pivotal day in the history of the Milwaukee Road. On this day the Burlington Northern was assembled from the CB&Q, GN, NP and SP&S railroads, the "Hill Lines", virtually surrounding the Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Road trail is an excellent way to tour the Palouse and view the region's spectacular panoramas and scenery. The trail takes hikers and bicyclists through some of the most historically significant towns in the Northern Palouse, such as Rosalia, Pine City, Malden, Ewan-Rock Lake, and Lind.

Aug 2, 2016 · By the time of the photo, T&E Hill was Milwaukee's main track between Tacoma and Portland, courtesy of a stipulation in the Burlington Northern merger that gave Milwaukee trackage rights south from Chehalis Junction. Early on, Milwaukee Road hauled three, or so, trains north from its SP connection in Portland.

Milwaukee Road 261 crossed the Union Pacific Railroad, former Chicago and North Western, in Clinton, Iowa. Milwaukee Road 261 has reached Dubuque, Iowa on 6/28/2004. Milwaukee Road 261 ran from Dubuque to La Crosse, Wisconsin on 6/29/2004 and we started our morning with the train backing to the Dubuque pick-up point.

Milwaukee Bridge, 2014: Abandoned and unused, the Milwaukee Road Bridge can be dangerous. The northwest end of the bridge is blocked by a large steel plate, and a sign in front reads "Warning Extreme Hazard." The hill underneath both sides are private property. Please proceed via the Milwaukee Road abandoned railway, not through yards.
