Kerala's Health Minister, Veena George, has announced that 499 people have been identified as contacts of two individuals infected with the Nipah virus in the state.

A team of scientists from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is assessing the Nipah virus situation in Kerala's Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
