Andrei Svechnikov pounced on a loose faceoff puck for his sixth postseason goal to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals 4-0 on Saturday night for a 2-1 lead in their second-round playoff series.

Carolina remains the only team perfect on the penalty kill this postseason, keeping Washington’s power play off the board twice to improve to 17 of 17.

Jaccob Slavin scored in overtime, one of 33 shots from a dominant Carolina effort, and the Hurricanes topped the Washington Capitals 2-1 in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series on Tuesday, the club's second straight playoff win beyond regulation.
