The center in Newark, just miles from Manhattan, is close to an international airport and is expected to have space for as many as 1,000 migrants.

The Trump administration is expanding its immigration detention capacity, reopening a 1,000-bed detention center in New Jersey and adding beds at other privately owned facilities around the country.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is reopening a migrant detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. The Delaney Hall Facility has the capacity to hold 1,000 migrants. It's the first migrant detention center to open under the Trump administration.
