The driver in the vehicle that was struck, a 69-year-old, was taken to a hospital – and later died from injuries.
Department of Public Works crews worked to repair the main break near Franklin Place and Pleasant St. for hours.
Court filings said he was driving more than 110 mph seconds before the crash, which seriously injured his passenger.
