New York Yankees closer Luke Weaver received a platelet-rich plasma injection designed to speed healing in his injured left hamstring, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Weaver was injured Sunday while he stretched in the Yankees bullpen after warming up to pitch the ninth inning of a 7-3 win over the Dodgers. When Weaver reported feeling a grabbing in his hamstring, the Yankees went with left-hander Tim Hill to close over the victory.

Aaron Boone didn’t sound overly optimistic late Sunday while discussing Luke Weaver, who had to cut his warmup short in the bullpen before the ninth inning of that night’s game at Dodger Stadium because he “felt something” in his left hamstring. Boone’s fears were soon confirmed.
