A dog owner whose XL bully attacked a police officer in Leicestershire has been jailed. The officer was inside a property in Lewis Close, Ibstock, for "less than a minute" when the dog got through a kitchen door,

The footage, taken from the officer’s body worn camera, shows him shouting in pain struggling to release the dog which had clamped his jaws onto his upper inner leg.

A dog owner has been jailed after his XL bully savaged a police officer in Leicestershire, leaving wounds that required surgery. Aden Hollyoake, 33, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison at Leicester Crown Court for offences including keeping an illegal pit bull at the property.

Kent Police has asked the government for more funding to help with the "huge costs" of enforcing the XL bully ban. It has been illegal to own an XL bully since February 2024, unless the owner has an exemption certificate and complies with strict rules, including neutering and muzzling their dog in public.
