President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he will urge allies to boost Ukraine’s air defenses at a meeting this week in Germany, while both sides said Kyiv’s forces pressed new attacks Sunday in Russia’s Kursk region.

The Kremlin on Saturday vowed "retaliation" for what it said was Ukraine's use of American-made Army Tactical Missile Systems against targets in a Russian border region.

President Volodymyr Zelensky added that the Russian army also strikes settlements close to the front line with guided aerial bombs every day.

Russia launched new strikes on Ukraine's territory during the afternoon of Friday, January 3, using missiles and drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The attacks occurred between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.

The ministry said its air defense systems had shot down 10 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory on Saturday morning, including three over the northern Leningrad region. St. Petersburg's Pulkovo airport temporarily halted flight arrivals and departures on Saturday morning.

Russian forces launched 81 drones at Ukraine overnight from the Russian cities of Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, and Primosk-Akhtarsk, Ukraine's Air Force said.

The Russian Ministry of Defence has reported the shooting down of eight ATACMS missiles launched by Ukraine. Many of the reports provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda.
