Gov. Mike Kehoe signed a legislative package on Saturday, approved by Missouri lawmakers earlier in the week, that includes hundreds of millions of dollars of financial aid intended to persuade the Chiefs and Royals to remain in the state.

The package is intended to persuade the Chiefs and the Royals to remain in Missouri amid discussions of their futures along the state line.

The governor’s signature capped off a two-week, at times chaotic, special session intended to prevent the city’s two major sports teams from leaving Missouri for Kansas.
