The Kansas City Royals saw their rotation take a hit Saturday when left-hander Cole Ragans, who is dealing with a left groin strain, and right-hander Seth Lugo, who has a third finger sprain, were placed on the 15-day IL.

The Royals placed both Lugo and Ragans on the injured list Saturday. Ragans is suffering from a groin strain, while Lugo has a finger sprain. The latter's IL stint is retroactive to May 14. Ragans suffered his injury against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night as he allowed four runs in five innings while striking out eight in the Royals' 10-3 loss.
