The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival unexpectedly included an actual water rescue Tuesday of a 97-year-old man.

Seaman Joseph Turk, a CGC Katmai Bay crew member who has been in the Coast Guard for less than a year, immediately jumped into the water to rescue the man. He kept the man afloat by treading water for at least 20 minutes while crews worked to lower rescue equipment.

There will be no parking on Franklin from Beacon Blvd to Harbor Drive to create an "Emergency Vehicle Only" lane from the downtown area from 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, through 2 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3.
