Valerie Mahaffey, an Emmy Award-winning actress from Austin and known for roles on Seinfeld and Desperate Housewives, has died.

Loretta Swit, who won two Emmy Awards for portraying Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on “M*A*S*H,” has died. She was 87. Swit died just after midnight Friday, May 30 at her home in New York City, The Hollywood Reporter said, citing a police report and Swit’s publicist, Harlan Boll. It is suspected Swit died of natural causes, NBC News reported.

Emmy-winning actress Valerie Mahaffey has died after a battle with cancer. She was 71. Her career spanned nearly 50 years with an array of television and movie roles, including appearances in "Northern Exposure," "Desperate Housewives," and "Young Sheldon." She also appeared on the ABC series "Big Sky," "Dead To Me" and "Echo 3."
