The sisters - ages 8 to 14 - had been paddleboarding in the big lake on Saturday in the vicinity of Black Beach in Silver Bay when they reached the smaller of two islands in that area.

Four girls were stuck on a small island in Lake Superior for five hours before being rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter in the early hours of Sunday morning.
