Astronomers have observed an object that originated from beyond our solar system, thought to be an interstellar comet, speeding through our celestial neighborhood.

A new object that is believed to be from beyond the solar system has been seen by scientists, according to astronomers. It was first named A11pl3Z, but has now been titled the much more memorable 3I/Atlas, and was originally reported by the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (Atlas) survey telescope in Río Hurtado, Chile, on Tuesday.

Astronomers on Wednesday confirmed the discovery of an interstellar object racing through our Solar System – only the third ever spotted, though scientists suspect many more may slip past unnoticed.
