SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.-- (BUSINESS WIRE)--BNSF Railway Company (BNSF) today announced that its 2018 capital expenditure program in California will be approximately $230 million.
The BNSF component consists of a series of projects along the BNSF San Bernardino Subdivision (SBS) to enhance safety, reliability, and capacity of freight and passenger train operations.
Additionally, BNSF is continuing a multi-year project to increase efficiency at its San Bernardino intermodal facility in the Inland Empire.
If approved, the project on land just west of Barstow in San Bernardino County could create more than 20,000 new jobs and help ease congestion.
The bridge project spans the railyard and BNSF Railway had to realign some lines to continue operating during reconstruction.
