A recent survey among Android Authority users indicates dedicated apps are far from the most popular ways to download wallpapers.

Finding good mobile wallpapers is no longer a struggle for smartphone users, thanks to an expanding world of apps and websites dedicated to customizing devices.

"We knew it was niche... and ultimately, we weren't able to turn it into the vision I had," Marques Brownlee said.

Brownlee, aka MKBHD, was pretty much universally loved when he released Panels in September 2024. But the app cost him a lot of fans.
