Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker plans to announce his bid for a third term amid speculation of future presidential ambitions.

Gov. JB Pritzker officially announced his re-election campaign in a news release June 26, with rallies scheduled across the state including Chicago, Rockford, Peoria and Springfield.

Lieutenant Gov. Juliana Stratton is running for the U.S. Senate next year. As a result, Pritzker will need to select a new running mate. He did not specify who it will be but emphasized the importance of choosing someone capable of stepping in as governor if needed.
