Ichiro Suzuki had a busy Tuesday night. First, he was announced as an inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its class of 2025. Moments later, the Seattle Mariners announced the organization would retire his famous No.

Only great Yankees All World reliever, Mariano Rivera, was unanimously elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. That’s it. Nobody else. Both Babe Ruth, and Honus Wagner received 95.13% of the vote when they were elected to the Hall.

After coming in second on some high-profile free agents in the last two offseasons, the Blue Jays have signed switch-hitting outfielder Anthony Santander for five years and $92.5 million. His 44 home runs last year with the Orioles were third-most in the sport.

While Mariano Rivera remains the only Hall of Famer to be voted in unanimously by the Baseball Writers Association of America, Ichiro joins Derek Jeter (2020) as inductees who were one vote shy of joining the longtime New York Yankees closer in that elite category.
