The Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation hosts the Celebration Train. Since 1985, it has been offering free rides to and from San Francisco for people attending the march in the city.

The MLK observations began Sunday in San Francisco at Fort Mason, where dozens of volunteers of all ages joined to spruce things up a bit. It's a part of a weekend of service projects the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is doing for MLK Day.
