The development outside of Houston has long drawn the ire of Texas Republicans who claim it’s a haven for undocumented people.

A federal and state immigration crackdown was taking place Monday in the the community northeast of Houston. Gov. Greg Abbot's posted Tuesday on X that "Texas DPS Troopers & Special Agents are assisting Homeland Security Investigations, with an operation in Colony Ridge this morning."

Conservative state officials have previously accused the residential community north of Houston of being a safe haven for people in the country without legal status. It was not immediately clear Tuesday whether the reported number of arrests were made this week or as part of ongoing enforcement initiatives.
