Parts of the South and Midwest, still reeling from violent storms, tornadoes and flooding that have killed more than a dozen people, face new flooding and tornado warnings that forecasters said could last for days.

Severe storms are threatening 46 million people across the U.S., with flash flood risks and tornado watches in seven states. In Kentucky, rising river levels and days of damage have left communities bracing for more as the death toll climbs to nine.

The same region was hit by tornadoes, wildfires and dust storms that killed 40 and left "staggering" damage in March.

About 22 million people are at risk for severe storms Sunday, stretching from central North Carolina southwestward to the central Gulf Coast, according to the Storm Prediction Center.

Many of the impacted areas already are heavily waterlogged by days of severe storms that spawned deadly tornadoes.

The Masters week will get off to a stormy start. Patron gates will not open on time for Monday's practice rounds as storms are expected to move through the area during the morning. Parking lots will also be closed, and patrons are asked to not come toward the course.

Strong storms are moving through Augusta and the first practice round has been halted as Augusta National asks patrons to exit the course.

Seven months after Hurricane Helene devastated Augusta, Georgia, the city and surrounding area is still putting itself back together.

Augusta National is officially closed for Monday. The club announced that it will not reopen for patrons due to inclement weather that hit the Augusta area around 11:25 Monday morning. Patrons who purchased Monday practice round tickets will be refunded their price of admission in May,
