Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s announced this week that the companies have jointly agreed to end a partnership that would have led to doughnuts being sold at McDonald’s locations nationwide. The partnership will officially end on July 2.

McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme said Tuesday that they’re ending their partnership on July 2, a little more than a year after it was announced. Krispy Kreme said demand for its doughnuts at McDonald’s wasn’t strong enough to recoup its costs.

The menu item was part of a new partnership set to rollout in nearly 14,000 McDonald's restaurants across the US -- but it barely made it into 2,500 store before the plug was pulled.
