High-voltage power lines saw a temporary surge in electrical current in the area where the deadly Eaton Fire is believed to have started, Southern California Edison said.

Southern California Edison on Monday reported a fault on a power line connected miles away from ones located near the origin of the Eaton Fire, the deadly blaze that ignited outside of Los Angeles on Jan.

A new video suggests the Eaton Fire in Altadena, California was started by a transmission tower. The utility company said there is no evidence to blame for the wildfire.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's plan to open a site to process Eaton Fire debris near L.A. County's foothill communities has prompted swift backlash from local leaders.

City leaders from Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa and Baldwin Park have joined in opposition of federal plans to use Lario Staging Ground as a place where they will dump and process the hazardous waste left behind by the Eaton Fire.

On Tuesday, hazmat crews with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will sift through all the burned properties, removing hazardous materials in the Palisades Fire zones and Eaton Fire zones.
