A man charged with the murder of a Minnesota law maker had his first hearing in federal court today. Vance Boelter is charged in U.S. District Court with stalking and possession and use of a firearm.

Vance Boelter was in court Friday for the first time since November. He is accused of fatally shooting Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, and wounding Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

Boelter was indicted on first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, animal cruelty and impersonating a police officer in the lawmaker shootings.
