Even though Denzel Washington’s Gladiator II performance is the highlight of the movie, it’s possible that he ended up going down with the ship. While the movie was nominated for Best British Film, it only received two other nominations, in technical categories, for Best Sound and Special Visual Effects.

Denzel Washington has never been nominated by the BAFTAs, and this year continues that snub streak. The EE BAFTA Film Awards, which are often considered the British equivalent of the Academy Awards, announced this year's nominations on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Denzel Washington is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of his generation, but he remans a blind spot for the BAFTAs.
