As "Stranger Things" closed out its five-season run with a long-awaited return this holiday season, the tentpole series had a seismic impact on both Netflix and the overall the TV landscape, setting records for the streamer from the jump.
Netflix users spent 325.6 million hours watching season five last week — not counting those who went to movie theaters to watch the final episode on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The finale made an estimated $20 million to $25 million in revenue for theater chains over those two days.

Stranger Things Season 5 does something very sneaky and very smart. It turns Season 2 of the show into the emotional and story backbone of the entire show. Not Season 1.
It now has been revealed that is in fac "Purple Rain" by Prince. The song plays as El and Mike say goodbye to the each other in the finale. While we may never know El's exact fate, we do know that the Duffers revealed to Tudum, " [Prince’s] estate does not generally allow that song to be licensed outside the Purple Rain movie."
The number seven also has meaning on “Stranger Things” because a die with the number seven facing up can be seen at the end of final episode to the right of a “Stranger Things” player manual. Noah Schnapp’s character also rolls a seven while playing “Dungeons & Dragons” in the show’s first episode in the first season.
