The following states will close their polls at 8 p.m. local time on Election Day: New York polls opened at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. on Election Day for in-person voting. Some states don’t have a uniform statewide end time. In New Hampshire and North Dakota polls are open depending on your county or municipality.

If you're voting on Election Day, polls in Texas are open from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. local time. As long as you're in the line by 7 p.m., you will be allowed to vote even if you haven’t been admitted inside a polling place. You have the right to stay in line as long as it takes to be able to cast your ballot.

That’s not the only thing that will be decided at the polls though, with abortion, marijuana, and local and state representative elections also set to be voted on down ballotOn election day, polling hours vary state by state—sometimes even county by county.

Election Day is here. Voters are gearing up to head to the polls to cast their ballots for either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris in one of the nation’s most historic presidential races. They'll also be determining which party will control the House and Senate.

Polls in Texas close at 9 p.m. Central Time, but those in Alaska stay open much longer — with some closing at midnight Central Time.
