The New York Rangers fired head coach Peter Laviolette on Saturday, ending his tenure after two seasons and a massive underachievement by missing the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The New York Rangers organization announced on Saturday that they have fired head coach Peter Laviolette. The team has also let go of Phil Housley, who was Laviolette’s associate behind the bench.

The Rangers added a crucial piece to their D core in Vlad Gavrikov. He will effectively replace K'Andre Miller and likely slot into a top pair role with top defenseman Adam Fox. They also added some depth to their offense with the addition of Taylor Raddysh and others.
