AccuWeather meteorologist Alyssa Glenny told Newsweek that on average, Porter sees 11.6 inches of snow throughout December, so it came within a half-foot of hitting amounts usually seen for the entire month. In a year, Porter sees more than 65 inches of snow.
The storm is expected to bring snow to northwestern Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania and New York and into New England. N.J.'s governor declared an emergency for some counties.
On Wednesday at 3:02 a.m. EST the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 7 a.m. EST until Thursday 7 a.m. EST for Alger, Luce and Schoolcraft counties.
Up to 17 inches of snow is set to hit several states across the U.S. from Tuesday through to Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue multiple winter storm warnings and advise travelers to “drive with extreme caution” or even consider delaying all travel.

CLEVELAND — Snow is impacting Northeast Ohio once again, which is why the National Weather Service had issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the entire region -- including Cleveland, Akron and Canton. While the Winter Weather Advisory has expired for most of the region, it remains in effect for the following counties until 7 p.m. Tuesday:
Several inches of snow are expected to fall on Dec. 2 in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, with freezing rain and iced-over roads in some areas.
Forecasters expected the storm to track up the Eastern Seaboard Monday night into Tuesday, leaving as much as a foot of snow in parts of the Northeast United States.
