Uber and Lyft announced they are offering free rides for evacuees in an effort to help those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Southern California.

Uber has about 75% of the rideshare market, and Lyft has the remaining 25%, according to a autoinsurance.com, which compiles statistics on the industry. Combined, the providers had almost 180 million active users as of last June. Uber's three safety reports to date cover the years 2017-2018, 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.
