Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders will start the preseason opener Friday when the Cleveland Browns meet the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, N.C. Coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed the move on Wednesday.

Injuries have prompted the Browns to add another quarterback. Cleveland is signing Tyler Huntley, the team announced Tuesday.

The Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Tyler Huntley on Tuesday, adding depth with multiple passers nursing injuries. Cleveland is holding a quarterback competition among four players: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. However, all but Flacco have recently been sidelined because of injuries.
