The high school graduation ceremony June 3 at Sierra Nevada Job Corps was bittersweet. It might be the last one ever after the Trump administration recently ordered all funding be ended for the federal Job Corps program. It educates and trains at-risk youth in vocational trades such as construction, nursing and auto mechanics.
Job Corps has its share of success stories, including heavyweight boxing campion George Foreman, who joined the program as a troubled youth and eventually found a path to success in both boxing and business.
