The noise off the ice surrounding J.T. Miller is undoubtedly becoming a distraction for the Vancouver Canucks, and it seems like it's only a matter of time before the team makes a move.

According to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta, general manager Chris Drury remains "fully engaged" in trade discussions to bolster his team’s playoff push. Pagnotta's report came on the heels of Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reporting a failed trade for Miller on Saturday.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers are two of the teams with permission to talk with Miller. The Rangers and Canucks were reportedly progressing on a trade before the potential deal fell through while the Hurricanes have been linked as a team with interest in Miller.

It seems like the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers are talking trade once again. The two teams nearly completed a J.T. Miller trade on the weekend. The deal was so close to completion that the Canucks were preparing to hold their star centre out of Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Rangers, who began the season as projected Stanley Cup contenders, took a steep slide in November through the end of 2024 and are now unlikely to even make the playoffs. New York is 20-20-2 and sits four points outside of a playoff spot with 40 games remaining.
