A Kenyan police officer who was on patrol with the international security force in Haiti has been killed in a confrontation with gang members.The officer is the first casualty suffered by the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support mission (MSS).

Officer Christopher Reese, 30, worked for the Virginia Beach Police Department for about three years when he and a second officer, Cameron Girvin, 25, were killed Friday night during a confrontation after a traffic stop, authorities said.

Reese, 30, was taken to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, where he died a short time later surrounded by family, friends, and fellow officers, Neudigate said. Reese became a Virginia Beach officer in 2022, after having served three years as a deputy sheriff for the city.
