Longtime JUCO football coach John Beam, who starred on Netflix's "Last Chance U", died on Nov. 14 after being shot the day prior, police said.

Authorities arrested a suspect early Friday in the Laney College campus shooting of legendary Oakland football coach John Beam, multiple sources told this news outlet.

Beam was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. Friday, police said.

Thursday's incident came a day after a student was shot at Oakland's Skyline High School. The student is in stable condition. Police say they arrested two juveniles and recovered two firearms. Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee said she was “heartbroken” by “the second shooting on an Oakland campus in one week.”
