No one can ever claim that MJF doesn't know how to draw heat, and he certainly did just that Wednesday night in Mexico City. The former AEW World Champion faced off against Lucha Libre star Mistico at Grand Slam Mexico.

One of the big matches booked for tonight’s (June 18) Grand Slam Mexico event saw former AEW world champion MJF go one-on-one with CMLL’s number one draw, Mistico. Would either company be cool with with one of their top guys losing this bout via pin fall or submission, especially with Mistico wrestling with the home crowd support in Arena Mexico?

AEW Grand Slam Mexico featured a huge match for MJF, as the 29-year-old looked to remain undefeated in Mexico by facing Mistico in a singles contest. In the end, Mistico did pick up the victory, but not in the way he wanted to. Referee Bryce Remsburg called for a disqualification after MJF kicked Mistico in the groin.
