The shocking revelation comes just a day after Lyon's owner John Textor offloaded his shares in Crystal Palace to New York Jets supremo Woody Johnson – a move seemingly designed to secure the Premier League team's spot in the Europa League.

However, Eagle Football Group, the consortium that owns French side, activated several financial levers to try and convince the DNCG that the situation at the club has drastically improved, including the sale of Textor’s stake in Crystal Palace and Lyon’s women’s team.
