A man was arrested for allegedly selling drugs to Francis Gigliotti hours before his deadly encounter with police outside a Haverhill seafood restaurant on Friday night.

A Haverhill, Massachusetts, man is accused of selling drugs to a man who died after a struggle with police Friday afternoon, police said.

HAVERHILL, Mass. — Seven Haverhill Police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into a deadly encounter outside of a seafood restaurant on Friday night, according to Chief Robert Pistone.

Authorities are reviewing video footage and seeking witness accounts after a 43-year-old died while being restrained by officers.

The Essex County District Attorney’s office has announced a full investigation into the death of 43-year-old Francis Gigliotti, who died after a struggle with police officers in Haverhill on Friday night.

Two men, alleged to have swindled a Haverhill couple by posing as police who held their daughter, were arrested this past Wednesday in Connecticut after Haverhill detectives tracked their whereabouts.
