Jackson 5-star running back Ezavier “EJ” Crowell made it official Thursday, committing to Kalen DeBoer and the University of Alabama. The 5-foot-11, 215-pound senior chose the Crimson Tide over Texas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Florida State and a host of other offers.

DeBoer landed the top-ranked running back in the Class of 2026 according to Rivals, receiving a commitment from Alabama native Ezavier Crowell Thursday night. Crowell picked the Crimson Tide over offers from the likes of Auburn,

Kalen DeBoer called in the big guns for Alabama’s final official visit weekend. Crowell was that important for the Crimson Tide’s 2026 class. Crowell isn’t the highest-rated recruit DeBoer has landed at Alabama. The Crimson Tide secured three five-star players in 2025. It has one committed in 2026, and, potentially, has more on the way.
